Ultrasound

An ultrasound scan is a medical test that uses high-frequency sound waves to capture live images from the inside of your body. It’s also known as sonography. The technology is similar to that used by sonar and radar, which help the military detect planes and ships.

Experience healthcare you can trust, delivered by a dedicated team committed to compassionate and high-quality care.

An ultrasound allows your doctor to see problems with organs, vessels, and tissues without needing to make an incision. Unlike other imaging techniques, ultrasound uses no radiation. For this reason, it’s the preferred method for viewing a developing fetus during pregnancy.

At Newtown Medical Centre, our professional Radiologist does a variety of Ultrasounds using our High Tech and Modern machinery. Some of our Ultrasounds includes:

  1. Abdominal Ultrasound – This examines the Kidney, liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen for pathology.
  2. Breast Ultrasound – This is a breast examination by use of sound waves to produce images of the internal structure of the breast
  3. Pelvic Ultrasound – This type of ultrasound gives a visualization of the female pelvic organs and structures which includes the cervix, vagina, uterus, fallopian tubes and the ovaries.
  4. Obstetric – This examination allows imaging of the developing embryo or fetus.

Echocardiogram

An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple test that can be used to check your heart’s rhythm and electrical activity. Sensors attached to the skin are used to detect the electrical signals produced by your heart each time it beats. These signals are recorded by a machine and are looked at by a doctor to see if they’re unusual. An ECG may be requested by a heart specialist (cardiologist) or any doctor who thinks you might have a problem with your heart, including your GP.

How do you Prepare for your Echocardiogram?

Our Sonographer uses Ultrasound technology to check your heart rhythm. For this service, you are required not to wear jewelry, put on cream, oils or powder on your Chest prior the procedure. The procedure will take about 40 mins – 1 hr.
