Newtown Medical Centre is one of Trinidad and Tobago's most advanced private medical facilities, at 55 Woodford Street overlooking the Queen's Park Savannah in Port of Spain. Since 2009 we have offered a comprehensive range of care under one roof: X-rays, ultrasound, ECG, laboratory tests, CT scanning, surgery and operating theatre services, with a strong focus on preventative health.
Founded and led by Medical Director Dr. Otisetimeyin Esimaje, our team brings over 200 years of combined experience across care giving, consultation, surgical procedures and critical care, so patients are seen, scanned and treated without being sent across town.
From imaging and lab work to surgery and rehabilitation, everything you need is here, so you get answers and treatment without being sent across town.

A complete digital X-ray and mammogram suite. Limb, spine, chest, cranium and lower-leg studies, plus mammograms and barium enema, with quick results.

A 32-slice Hitachi CT scanner producing detailed cross-sectional and 3D images of the head, chest, spine, heart, abdomen, knee and shoulders. Walk-ins accepted.
Radiation-free scanning on an Arietta 50 machine: abdominal, breast, pelvic and obstetric studies, plus echocardiograms, all read by our radiologist.

Minimally invasive internal examinations and minor surgery in our third-floor endoscopy suite, alongside the operating theatres and recovery room.

Two modern third-floor operating theatres with a dedicated recovery room, for general, vascular and specialist surgery, from hernia repair and gallbladder removal to C-sections and biopsies.

“I highly recommend Newtown Medical Centre. Their doctors are excellent, the staff is extremely kind, and the overall hospitality is wonderful. I had a back surgery and went for pain management and dressing, both experiences were very good. It's such a peaceful and caring place.”
“I came to Newtown Medical all the way from Barbados very ill and have made such a dramatic improvement. The team here was very thorough and compassionate. They were able to diagnose my condition and treat it effectively. They have all the modern tools you would expect in a first class hospital.”
“From the moment I walked in I felt safe, cared for and respected. There were no long waits and I got personalized care. The two doctors who took care of me were readily available and provided medical care that was second to none. I would recommend NewTown Medical to anyone seeking the best care at a private institution.”
“By far the best service I have received at a medical institution, for both myself and my mom. They were so kind and loving to my mom, it made the worst time in our lives pleasant despite the tragedy. I am deeply touched and I will never forget the loving care received there.”
“Very professional. The doctors and nurses are kind, caring, and genuinely look out for your well-being. I would give them a 10/10. The level of attention, professionalism, and compassion they show has made a significant difference.”
“Really lovely staff, from the nursing team to the orderlies to the reception. We spent several weeks attending appointments before and after a surgery, and I cannot say I ever had a bad run-in with anyone. Felt a genuine sense of care and sensitivity from everyone.”
